Walking/jogging outside around your neighborhood is a great way to get some fresh air and get exercise at the same time. Walking up and down your stairs in your house can really get your heart rate up – especially if you walk them 10 times in a row!
Exercises like jumping jacks, push ups, sit ups and other similar moves are really beneficial because they use your own body weight against you. If you want to step it up a bit you can add in some squats or find some “weights” around the house. Soup cans or water bottles are a great substitute for hand weights.
If you have problems with your balance or have a hard time standing up, arm exercises with your homemade weights can be done while you are sitting down. If you can’t do a full push up, stand about 2 feet from a wall and lean into it with your hands to do a standing up push up.
Dancing around the house to your favourite music can be a great form of exercise that could target a good amount of your muscles. Why not try dancing next time you need to dust the living room or sweep the floors?
